Disney Plus ends free-trial Promo ahead of July 3rd “Hamilton” movie premiere

The free seven-day promotional trial for Disney Plus has ended — with the company saying it” doesn’t need to dangle freebies” to get new customers to the streaming service.

A Disney Plus rep said “We continue to test and evaluate different marketing, offers and promotions to grow Disney Plus. The service was set at an attractive price-to-value proposition that we believe delivers a compelling entertainment offering on its own.”

The Disney Plus’ free-trial promo, is a widely used customer-acquisition tool in the streaming industry, in just short six months in May, Disney Plus had already signed up 54.5 million subscribers worldwide, the UK price for subscribers is £5.99 per month.

It is my just be timing but Disney Plus’s move to stop the trial accounts comes just before the July 3 “Hamilton,” premiere, the movie based on hit musical by Lin-Manuel Miranda. The premiere is being released about a year before it was originally scheduled. Disney Plus is the streaming home for movies and TV shows from brands like Disney, Pixar, Marvel and Star Wars, and has also an array of original titles.
