The Film– An adaptation of Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s novel this film documents a slice of modern history which gives us an insight into the making of contemporary Nigeria.
Olanna (Thandie Newton) and Kainene (Anika Noni Rose) are sisters from a wealthy Nigerian family and on their return from schooling in England to 1960s Nigeria they soon diverge on different paths.
The story follows the sisters’ relationships but soon they become caught up in the events of the Nigerian civil war, in which the lgbo people fought an impassioned struggle to establish Biafra as an independent republic.
