Nicolas Cage and Laurence Fishburne star in this drug trade thriller that runs for well under two hours but takes a minute or two to warm up.
The movie just drives itself along – this debut feature by Jason Cabell is formula there is violence right from the start, a naked man who is gagged and tied up is burned and there are prostitutes and sex-scenes drug Lord “The Man” Fishburne finds himself with two overdosed prostitutes who he has to get rid off. For The Agent in Charge (Leslie Bibb) there are far to many deaths leading to the same batch of coke so she is on the case.
The Boss (Barry Pepper) has problems as in Colombia “The Farmer” who makes the drugs is compromised when trying to get his shipment to the USA and so The Boss brings in “The Cook” (Nicolas Cage) South to make sure the uncut coke crosses the borders without a hitch. For fans of the genre it is what it says on the tin a drug trade thriller- but it could be so much more with Cage and Fishburne at the helm.
Written and Directed by Jason Cabell. Starring Nicolas Cage, Leslie Bibb, Clifton Collins Jr., Barry Pepper, Laurence Fishburne.
