News: Ed Book Fest _ Tribute to Literary Legend Toni Morrison lead by Jackie Kay with Margaret Busby

On Saturday 24th of August  The Edinburgh International Book Festival paid tribute to Toni Morrison who passed earlier this month. A key event in the August festival scene the festival was formed in 1983. The success of the event now sees the festival programme over 900 events. An important feature of the Book Festival’s is the high profile debates and discussions series. Running from the 10-26th August, the tribute to Toni Morrison saw Jackie Kay lead a special memorial event which marked the life and work of Morrison, alongside writers Nafissa Thompson-Spires and Nesrine Malik, editor Margaret Busby, as well as publishers Clara Farmer and Lennie Goodings and musician Heir of the Cursed, each of whom have been moved, inspired and influenced by Morrison’s oeuvre in different ways.  The celebratory event paid tribute to Morrison with readings from across her astonishing career,. It also included audio from her Book Festival appearance in 2004, and music from Heir of the Cursed.
