OUR RIVER…OUR SKY is an ensemble film of intersecting individual stories set in Baghdad, at a time of intense sectarian violence and nightly curfews, unfolding over the last week of 2006, culminating in the sudden execution of Saddam Hussein.

Dedicated to the youth of Iraq, Maysoon Pachachi’s film offers a glance at the realities of ordinary life in Baghdad, a stark contrast to past Western media portrayals of the 2003 US-led invasion and its catastrophic aftermath. A raw and powerful display of humanity, Pachachi’s film explores identity and nationalism, and what it means to belong.

The film explores how people whose world both outside and inside is shattering, find the courage to resist the damage and renew a fragile sense of hope every day.
