The Former Chelsea star has been found dead following the devastating earthquake in southern Turkey and northern Syria last week.
The premier league wrote on their social page. “We are deeply saddened by the news #ChristianAtsu lost his life in the devastation of the #earthquakes that have hit Turkey and Syria.

Our thoughts and condolences are with Christian’s family and friends and everyone affected by this tragic event.”
Christian Atsu Twasam was a #Ghanaian professional footballer who last played for #Turkish Süper Lig club #Hatayspor and the Ghana national team. He primarily played as a winger, although he was also deployed as an attacking midfielder. Atsu began his career with Porto, also spending a season on loan at Rio Ave, he also had played for @chelseafc and @nufc Newcastle.
Newcastle United – where Atsu spent four years – said he would be ‘fondly remembered’ by everyone at the club.
‘We are profoundly saddened to learn that Christian Atsu has tragically lost his life in Turkey’s devastating earthquakes,’ they said on social media.
‘A talented player and a special person, he will always be fondly remembered by our players, staff and supporters. Rest in peace, Christian.’
