Artforum at Sotheby’s: Grief and Grievance at the New Museum join Malik Gaines in conversation with Naomi Beckwith, Theaster Gates, Massimiliano Gioni & Julie Mehretu

Following their exciting event collaboration with Sotheby’s last autumn, Intelligence Squared brings you a new series of online events in partnership with one of the world’s leading international auction houses. The talks will bring together some of the world’s most brilliant speakers to discuss art, design and fashion from the past right up to today.

The latest event is ‘Artforum at Sotheby’s: Grief and Grievance at the New Museum’, in partnership with Artforum. Artist and associate professor of performance studies at New York University Malik Gaines will be in conversation with curatorial advisers Naomi Beckwith and Massimiliano Gioni and artists Theaster Gates and Julie Mehretu.

They will be honouring ‘Grief and Grievance: Art and Mourning in America’, an exhibition originally conceived by Okwui Enwezor (1963-2019) and presented at the New Museum with curatorial support from advisors Naomi Beckwith, Massimiliano Gioni, Glenn Ligon, and Mark Nash.
