A Metropolitan Police officer has been suspended after footage emerged of a suspect, Marcus Coutain, 48 being arrested with a knee on his neck in Islington, London. Coutain, was in the video that went viral can be heard telling officers “get off my neck” as he was arrested in north London on Thursday.
The MET police have voluntarily referred the incident to the Independent Office for Police Conduct and a police deputy commissioner said the footage was “extremely disturbing.”
A second officer has been removed from operational duty following the arrest on Thursday evening. The Met have “quickly assessed the incident” and have referred it to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC), to conduct an investigation.
