Diversity Focus: Miss Universe 2019 is Zozibini Tunzi from South Africa: Breaking Barriers with Afro Hair!

Meet the first black woman to win the pageant since 2011 and the first to do so with her natural #afro hair. Imagine Zozibini Tunzi was told to wear a wig for the Miss Universe pageant saying hell no! Defying the politics of Afro hair,  she won the crown.  Tunzi has been wearing her hair natural for years and she didn’t want to change who she was just for the pageant. Her view is “beauty can be anything”

On winning when asked how did she feel? She said “I don’t know it is unreal”. She also said prior to winning that “the most important thing we should be teaching young girls today is leadership”. Winning means she is about to spend the next year traveling the world. It is the 68th Miss Universe pageant and it was held at the Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta, Georgia, on Sunday.
