An important venture for young, creative Londoners. The RecordShop a free pop-up studio in Tottenham was founded by the rapper, producer and DJ Mary Otumahana. Free studio time creates an opportunity for those entering into the music industry a chance to kickstart their music career. Ambitious yes as Mary created the studio for those who could not afford to pay for studio time. It is aimed at 16-25 year olds and is a way of engagement for the youth who may not be in education. Mary was at The Tottenham Literature Festival on 9th November.
In October 2015 The RecordShop was born through self-funding and use of her own equipment, she was given a free space at the Tottenham Enterprise Centre and started The RecordShop helping other young people to pursue their musical dreams.
