Rachel Ama is vegan goals. In her first book, Rachel Ama’s Vegan Eats, she delivers vibrant, flavour-packed plant-based dishes that make cooking and enjoying delicious vegan food every day genuinely easy – and fun. Since launching her YouTube channel in September 2017, Rachel has amassed a legion of followers who are all hungry for her simple, affordable and delicious vegan recipes and recommendations.
Rachel takes inspiration from naturally vegan dishes and cuisines as well as her Caribbean and West African roots to create fresh, full-flavour recipes that are easy to make (most take less than 30 minutes) and will inspire anyone to make vegan food part of their daily life. For Rachel it’s about showing you can still eat your favourite dishes from your own cultures and not compromise on flavour. She makes vegan cooking feel fun, inviting and absolutely delicious.
Rachel’s recipes are quick and often one-pot; ingredients lists are short and supermarket-friendly; dishes can be prepped-ahead and, most importantly, she has included a song with most recipes so that you have a banging playlist to go alongside every plate of delicious food.
Rachel Ama knows the London vegan scene inside-out but she also looks abroad for flavour inspiration, and to both her Caribbean and African roots. Rachel grew up in North London with her Mum, who encouraged lots of veggies and was really into holistic living and studied nutrition. Rachel very much brought vegan cooking home and would take staple Caribbean recipes (inspiration from her Sierra Leonean and St Lucian roots) and make vegan alternatives still packed with traditional spices and flavours. Rachel also has a grandma from Wales so was inspired to make some British classics vegan:
