New Sky One Comedy “In the Long Run” stars Idris Elba

New up-coming series In The Long Run provides light laughs, it follows the Sierra Leonean Easmon family dealing with the day to day happenings of living in 1980’s East London. Created by and starring Golden Globe winner Elba (Walter), the show was loosely based on Elba’s own childhood. In the first episode the family have to deal with the arrival of Valentine (Jimmy Akingbola) Walters wayward younger brother whose mishap ambitions will land him in trouble time and time again. The iconic not quite- there Afro sported by Idris remind us of a time when fashion does not get it right. This bit of Del Boy fashion adds to the humor and we get a glimpse of the dreaded shell suit and Idris in a turtleneck.

The ensemble cast include comedy favourite (Bill Bailey) as the hapless Bagpipes, with Elba at the helm as family man factory worker Walter Easmon, alongside wife Agnes (Madeline Appiah), son Kobna (Sammy Kamara) and younger brother Valentine (Jimmy Akingbola).
