IDEAL HOME SHOW A BRIEF HISTORY

Originally called “Ideal Home Exhibition” and founded by the Daily Mail, when it first opened its doors in 1908, 110 years on the show now known as the Ideal Home Show welcomes millions of visitors each year. It was a different world then the Suffragettes were laying down the foundations for women’s rights, the vacuum cleaner was just 1 years old, in 1907 color photography was invented by Auguste and Louis Lumiere and it was only two years since the invention of Cornflakes by the Kellogg brothers.

After being suspended during WW2 it reopened in 1947 and has continued to grow in popularity year after year, in 1957 a record 1.5 million visitors attended.
