Screening for only the second time in 23 years and written by the actor-screenwriter Lennie James, Storm Damage is an emotionally powerful, imaginative and complex portrayal of the experiences of young people living within a care home in Brixton’s Angel Town. In this culturally significant story, Danny (Adrian Lester) is an idealistic Black teacher-turned-care worker whose major challenge lies in turning the home’s primary delinquent Stefan (Ashley Walters) away from the negative and potentially fatal influence of local gangster Boniface (James). Achieving a cult status this very rare screening will hopefully help to rehabilitate this important films place in the history of Black culture on TV. Please check back for confirmation of guests.
