The 16th edition of I Will Tell International Film Festival London which runs from 7 – 16 July opened with Purple Beatz the film is set in 1990’s and sees SJ played by newcomer Izzy Jones in the lead.
Directed and written by Lola Atkins this first feature captures the essence of London life and life of a young person coming to live their dream but it not quite being what they expected, SJ wants to sing soul music but is trapped into a contract with sleazy drum and brass music manager Russel D played by Aron Von Andrian, which plays havoc on her new found love with Airbeats. To the backdrop of drum n bass, acid and house music Atkins gives us an enjoyable coming of age roller coaster ride. Good all round performances.

The festival continues within the UK with World Premieres from around the world at cinemas across London followed by inspirational post-screening discussions until July 16th. Check out the full festival program here!
