64th Annual Grammy Awards: Jon Batiste FIRST Black artist in 14 years to win Album of the Year

Jonathan Michael Batiste is an American singer, songwriter, musician, bandleader, and television personality. He has recorded and performed with artists in various genres of music, released his own recordings, and performed in more than 40 countries.

@jonbatiste has taken home five Grammy Awards – including Album Of The Year – at this year’s ceremony, which took place in Las Vegas last night.
Batiste won the top prize for his 2021 #album We Are, also scoping Grammys for Best Music Video (Freedom), Best American Roots Performance (Cry), Best American Roots Song (Cry) and Best Score Soundtrack For Visual Media (Soul, with #TrentReznor and #AtticusRoss).

The victories top a remarkable year for Batiste, who studied jazz at #Juilliard and also serves as the leader of Stay Human, the house band on The Late Show (@colbertlateshow) with #StephenColbert.

Last year Jon Batiste, @treznor and Atticus Ross won the #Oscar for best original score for their work on the hit Pixar film ‘Soul’. #pixar
