Police clash with protesters in Bristol gathering to oppose Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill

Two police officers were taken to hospital with broken bones and two police vehicles were set on fire in Bristol after thousands had gathered for a protest against the Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill that would give police new abilities to restrict street protests, according to Reuters. Police said an otherwise peaceful protest was “turned by a small minority into a violent disorder,” according to the BBC. The new policing bill has angered activists, particularly in light of the recent response to a Sarah Everard vigil. The bill passed a vote in its second reading last Tuesday. #SarahEverard
