Lenny Kravitz and Viola Davies among stars sending love to Cicely Tyson for 96th Birthday

Happy Birthday to Cicely L. Tyson the American actress and former fashion model who turned 96 this week.. In a career spanning more than seven decades, she has become known for her portrayal of strong African-American women.

For nearly 70 years, has brought her grace and beauty to the screen and is inspiring role model to women and girls. December 19, Tyson celebrated her 96th birthday, and celebrities sent her messages on social media reminding us of the icon that she is.

Star of Netflix’s Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom Viola Davis said. “There are certain people that come into this world and their lifeforce creates a powerful inspiring explosion. We get the overflow,” Davis wrote on Twitter. “I thank God for creating this beautiful, courageous and bold being 96 years ago.”

Tyler Perry who has named one of his studios after Tyson said. “Happy 96th birthday!! 96 and still as sharp and as beautiful as ever. What a blessing to have you as a friend, as family, and as a role model. The wisdom and love you’ve shown me over all these years has been a gift from God! Happy birthday Queen Cicely!! #cicelytyson

Tyson is preparing for release of her written memoir, Just I Am due out January 2021.
