ITV have said “Ashley and the group are a great example of the talent, creativity and diversity of modern Britain and their performance was an authentic, heartfelt response to many of the issues and events which have affected society in 2020.”

Despite Ofcom having received reportedly 23,308 complaints following the broadcast on the 5th September episode of Britain’s Got Talent, ITV backed the group saying it was “was an authentic, heartfelt response to many of the issues and events which have affected society in 2020”.

In an statement by ITV the spokesperson described the show as “inclusive” and that it “showcases diversity and supports strong storytelling in all forms”. Amanda Holden speaking on #ThisMorning said that the performance by the dance group which dedicated to the #BLACKLIVESMATTER movement got a lot more praise than the complaints and echoing what Ashley said, she said the complaints are all the more reason why it was important.
