In The Long Run returns to Sky on July 22

Sky One have confirmed the return of Idris Elba’s comedy In The Long Run. The third series returns with all episodes available to watch from  July 22.

Idris Elba(Luther) – who stars in the semi-autobiographical series with Madeline Appiah, Bill Bailey and Jimmy Akingbola –  said: ‘Nothing beats a funny story from someone who was there! I can’t wait for viewers to see series three.’

The new series also stars Ellen Thomas as the mother of Walter, who forcefully arrives in London from Sierra Leone while Bailey’s character Bagpipes has a near-death experience that makes him question the meaning of life. It is set in London 1985, focusing on the Easmon family; Elba plays Walter, who had arrived from Sierra Leone with wife Evelyn 13 years before.

Jon Mountague, director of comedy for Sky Studios, said: ‘Our chests are puffed out with pride for the return of Idris Elba’s award-winning In The Long Run.
