Golden Globes 2019 Spike Lee, Thandie Newton, Vice, Green Book and If Beale Street Could Talk Nominated

Alt A brings you a round up of the 2019 Golden Globe nominations: talk about a ground-breaking period in the film industry with more diverse casting, all black casts and the black female lead: Widows, Black Panther, The Green Book, Sorry to Bother You, BlacKkKlansman, If Beale Street Could Talk, some not yet released in the UK.

Congrats to Spike Lee for his Best Director and Best Film nomination and David John Washington for Best Actor!!! The Green Book follows Vice who lead with 6 nominations with 5. BlacKkKlansman has 4 and Black Panther and If Beale Street Could Talk have 3. Barry Jenkin’s If Beale Street Could Talk was nominated for Best Screenplay.  In line with ALT’s new section SheCan we have to point out that no female directors have been nominated!!
