Gay’s most recent book, Hunger: A Memoir of (My) Body, captures the experiences, traumas and attitudes which have shaped Gay’s changing relationship with her body and what they reveal about society as a whole. Her previous book, Bad Feminist, became a New York Times bestseller, exposing the inequalities of the present with insight and piercing wit.
Her fiction includes the novel An Untamed State, a finalist for the Dayton Peace Prize; the short story collections Difficult Women and Ayiti. She is also the author ofThe World of Wakanda for Marvel.
In 2015, Gay was the recipient of the PEN America Freedom to Write Award for demonstrating ‘exceptional courage in the defense of free expression.’ She has contributed to numerous publications, and her fiction has been widely anthologised.
