About the event: The winner of 2016 BBC Young Musician makes his Milton Court debut in a cello recital charged with both wit and romance.
Since his BBC Young Musician triumph in 2016, cellist Sheku Kanneh-Mason has quickly become one of the most eloquent and charismatic presences on the UK concert scene. Sonatas by Debussy and Brahms are at the heart of this beautifully curated Milton Court recital.

That’s a revealing choice in itself: it’s hard to think of two musical experiences less alike than the ardent, high-romantic grandeur of Brahms’s Second Cello Sonata and the shadowy, quicksilver grace of Debussy’s late Sonata, inspired by the figure of Harlequin. Less familiar works by Poulenc and Boccherini offer a delightful complement – and scope for Kanneh-Mason to display what The Independent called his ‘dignified playfulness’. To win please answer the following question: What year did Sheku win BBC Young Musician? All answers must be sent to the Editor by Fri 30th Nov 5pm 2018. Winners will be notified by email.
