ROOTS OF BLACK MUSIC: From Ancient Africa to Grime

A 4-week evening course with Robin Walker.
Robin Walker ‘The Black History Man’ will lead an informative short course on the origin and evolution of Black Music. All the sessions are inspiring multimedia presentations that will enable you to see, hear, enjoy and experience great and uplifting music. The course traces Black Music from the Nile Valley, to the Ancient African Courts, to the Plantations, to Gospel, to the birth of Calypso, High-life, Jazz, Modern Jazz, Rock & Roll, Soul, Funk, Ska, Disco, Hip Hop, Techno, House Music and Grime.

Learn: * How instruments created in early Africa are the prototypes of what we have today * Who really started Rock & Roll * How Black Music conquered the world * What Hip Hop and House DJ’s actually do.

There are four classes:
1. Black Women and the Evolution of Music
2. Roots of Black Music from Ancient Africa to Jazz
3. Roots of Black Music from Rock & Roll to Grime
4. Origin and Evolution of Modern Jazz
