This film was an overnight sensation: box-office Blaxploitation with brains. It was adapted from a novel by ex-CIA agent Sam Greenlee, and with a killer soundtrack from Herbie Hancock what could possibly go wrong? The story of a ‘token black’ CIA recruit who quits to return to Chicago and instigate a revolution was effectively buried by the FBI, who seized and destroyed all but one film print. Tickets
