Jean-Michel Basquiat Sotheby’s sell of his Skull painting sold for over a hundred million dollars pushing the late Brooklyn-born artist to the top of the international art market, alongside Picasso, and Francis Bacon. Through exclusive interviews with his two sisters Lisane and Jeanine, who have agreed to be interviewed for the first time for a TV documentary. The story is told with candour by Basquiat’s art dealers – Larry Gagosian, Mary Boone and Bruno Bischofberger – as well as intimate friends, lovers and fellow artists, exposing the life he experienced, cash, drugs and the racism which Basquiat confronted on a daily basis. Basquiat’s art remains at the heart of this story.
