Meet us @Tate Modern for an exclusive screening of Detroit, starring John Boyega on Thursday 24th August from 6.30PM. Kathryn Bigelow’s Detroit tells the gripping story of one of the darkest moments during the civil unrest that rocked Detroit in the summer of ‘67.
After the screening, members will also have the chance to explore Soul of a Nation: Art in the Age of Black Power an exhibition exploring African American pride, autonomy and solidarity, by provoking, confronting, and confounding expectations. Vibrant paintings, powerful murals, collage, photography, revolutionary clothing designs and sculptures made with Black hair, melted records, and tights – the variety of artworks reflects the many viewpoints of artists and collectives at work during these explosive times.
