S.O.U.L. Fest x ABFF Global: London Returns for 7th Edition — Expands to Rich Mix and Birmingham

The S.O.U.L. Fest x ABFF Global: London is back for its 7th annual edition, running 28–31 August 2025, and this year promises to be its biggest yet. For the first time, this  UK’s celebration of Black cinema will extend its reach beyond BFI Southbank to include Rich Mix in Shoreditch and the Midlands Arts Centre (Birmingham).

Co-founded by The British Blacklist, We Are Parable, and S.O.U.L. Film, in partnership with the American Black Film Festival (ABFF) and founding sponsor Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE), the festival delivers an expanded programme of premieres, international showcases, masterclasses, and industry networking. This year’s line-up reflects the richness, vibrancy, and global reach of Black storytelling.


 
 
 
 
 
 
 
The 7th S.O.U.L Fest Film Festival will feature screenings, masterclasses, exclusive Q&As including:
  • Opening night screening of Thriller 40 Acres starring Danielle Deadwyler, directed by R.T Thorne.
  • Critically acclaimed documentary Shoot The People by Oscar nominated photographer Misan Harriman and BAFTA/RTS award winning director Andy Mundy Castle.
  • Exclusive screening of Trouble Man – Action packed drama starring Michael Jai White, Method Man, Mike Epps, Gillian White, Orlando Jones, Lala Anthony
  • New York Film Academy (NYFA) presents Masterclasses with Patrice DeGraff Arenas (ACT IT OUT: Scene Exploration) and Federico Spiazzi (Screenwriting: From Character to Plot) at Rich Mix.
  •   Screen Alliance Wales and Bad Wolf spotlight emerging talent from the Wolf Pack trainee programme, presented by SPE.
  •  SPE showcases five acclaimed short films from South Africa.
  • Special screening of British/Ghanaian comedy feature  The Fisherman at Rich Mix.
  • Networking breakfast hosted by Freemantle.

Industry Connections and Networking

Beyond screenings, the festival fosters collaboration and industry dialogue. Highlights include a networking breakfast hosted by Fremantle and short film showcases from emerging Black British filmmakers in London and Birmingham. The event will close with the 2025 S.O.U.L. Fest x ABFF Global: London Award winners.

Impact Award 2025

This year’s Impact Award goes to Miranda Wayland, CEO of the Creative Diversity Network (CDN), for her outstanding contributions to diversity in broadcasting through leadership roles at CDN, BBC, Amazon, and ITV.
