Last year Kush Films founder & CEO Marlon Palmer suffered a temporary illness from overwork and had to get away from the UK & spent the last 5 months in Jamaica recovering & rejuvenating. Whilst there that he was contacted by Alain Bidard the independent filmmaker of Opal, who is from Caribbean island Martinque, his film Opal had won a number of festival awards and he asked Marlon to help bring his film to the UK Black community but only problem was; he had no funds to facilitate payment for Kush Films distribution services. Marlon was impressed with the film not only for the important subject matter, lovely animation but also because it’s rare to get a feature length animated ‘black’ film in the UK and decided to take on the project and raise funds himself; (so with your support) Kush Films will have to raise all the finances needed for UK distribution themselves.

This initial first online screening will be a test screening and they need you to attend on the 9th February to watch the film and then help provide feedback and guidance back to them as they want to handle and release this sensitive film thoughtfully in the right manner;  the intention is to also get the film into schools, community/youth spaces, educational institutions for widespread screenings.
