Comic Relief 2024 — this year’s fundraising fun will be Sir Lenny Henry take a bow for all the hard work his has done and as a host., At the age of 65, Sir Lenny Henry has made the decision to retire as the host of Comic Relief’s Red Nose Day after an impressive 39-year tenure.

Having co-founded Comic Relief alongside Richard Curtis in 1985, the comedian will bid farewell to the fundraising telethon in March of this year.


Reflecting on his journey, Sir Lenny expressed his astonishment at the longevity of Comic Relief, admitting that when they first embarked on the venture in 1985, he never imagined it would endure for nearly four decades. Despite his departure, Sir Lenny’s dedication to helping others remains unwavering, leaving behind a legacy of compassion and commitment. With the rain and not so great weather put our feet up and enjoy Red Day and the bests bits of Lenny, it’s broadcasting LIVE from its home at Media City UK, Salford, on Friday, 15th March, starting at 7pm across BBC One, BBC Two, and BBC iPlayer
