Review: RedCON-1 in Cinemas Today 28th Sept 2018

Dir: Chee Keong Cheung; Starring: Oris Erhuero, Carlos Gallardo, Mark Strange, Katarina Leigh Waters, Martyn Ford, Joshua Dickinson. Cert 18, 118 mins

This is the story, after a zombie apocalypse spreads from a London prison, the UK is brought to its knees,  playing Captain Marcus Stanton is Oris Erhuero who leads the strong cast in this post-apocalyptic Zombie fest.  Stanton is one of eight special forces officers who have 72 hours to complete a mission to rescue Dr Julian Raynes, the scientist who may be behind the outbreak and the only possible chance of  stopping it. This the newest entry into the British horror slasher movie genre. Director Chee Keong Cheung exceeds the his low budget with high quality action scenes and sequences,  plenty of blood and guts is spilled in true horror fashion.

The spread of the virus is temporarily contained but, without a cure, it’s only a matter of time before it breaks its boundaries and the biggest problem of all… any zombies with combat skills are now enhanced.

With the South East of England quarantined from the rest of the world using fortified borders, intelligence finds the scientist responsible for the outbreak is alive and well in London. What emerges is an unlikely pairing on a course to save humanity against ever-rising odds. 16 years after Danny Boyle’s 28 Days Later this is a decent attempt to stand up to the film.
